Solicitor And Principal At Touchstone Legal Services
After seven years in industry and commerce I began working in the legal environment in 1982. In 1995 I concentrated my practice in the areas of Commercial, Intellectual Property and IT/Computer law, taking a Masters Degree in e-commerce law in 2000. In 2009 I decided to set up my own firm specialising in my core legal areas plus data protection law.
I have always loved my job: researching the law, learning about the technical issues related to my specialist fields of law, interacting with clients, finding practical commercial solutions and drafting and negotiating agreements (as well as winning the odd court case!). My clients look to me to help them manage, exploit and maintain the value of their brands; buy or sell computers, websites, apps, software or cloud solutions and ensure they comply with all their data protection issues. I also look after several non-fiction writers, photographers, and illustrators and really enjoy working with other firms of solicitors who do not have my areas of expertise in-house.
My guiding principles in life are to prepare thoroughly (in my view luck is opportunity twinned with preparation), have the confidence to give anything a go and make room for having a life as well as a career. I am the Vice Chair of a not for profit company that has a £5m portfolio of quality housing for key workers in and around the southern counties. My social interests vary from playing golf to walking, reading, friends, family, food and films.
