Blackmores and EduTrips
Melanie has been involved with the creation, development and implementation of British and International standards for many years. With her passion for improving business efficiency through the implementation of business systems compliant to ISO Standards. Melanie founded Blackmores, a consultancy firm based in Letchworth Garden City in 2006.
Blackmores rapidly grew to be an award winning, leading provider of consultancy services in specialising in environmental, quality and risk standards. Not interested in just ticking boxes, Melanie takes great pride in delivering sustainable solutions to help clients improve their productivity and profitability in a risk controlled way. Not an easy task, but she enjoys a challenge!
How is this done? By assisting companies to create all the necessary, policies and procedures and then communicate to employees via training (either classroom based or elearning). Areas covered includes quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 50001), H & S (OHSAS 18001), business continuity (ISO 22301) and information security (ISO 27001). Following the implementation, Blackmores assist with compliance audits and on-site support with clients’ assessments. So, holding their hand every step of the way until the company is successfully accredited.
Based on a love of travelling, and being a parent to two children, when a British Standard for adventurous trips overseas appeared on the scene, BS 8848:2014, Melanie jumped at the chance to see how the standard could benefit young people travelling on trips. Following a pilot with some independent schools in Herts and Beds, Edutrips was born.
Edutrips is an unique online educational visits system compliant to BS 8848, which helps schools and colleges organise trips safely and easily. So now Melanie is on a mission to raise awareness of the benefits of raising standards in quality and health and safety standard through edutrips.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time watching her children at hockey fixtures, travelling, sailing and playing netball.
