I advise both employers and employees on all aspects of employment law. This includes contentious matters such as disciplinary and grievance cases, workplace disputes and Tribunal litigation. It also includes non-contentious work such as drafting and reviewing employment contracts, staff handbooks and service agreements.
My client base ranges from global organisations to owner-managed businesses, in numerous sectors including in particular retail, recruitment and pharmaceutical. I also advise individuals regarding their rights, and in circumstances where they have been issued with a settlement agreement.
I am unusual within my peers as I have spent a significant amount of time as an in-house lawyer. This means that I always try to think commercially first and foremost, before examining the employment law aspects of any case. Of course, I always want to make sure that employees are treated with dignity, but for me I get a real buzz out of helping my corporate clients achieve their business objectives.
I head up the Employment Department at Sherrards. I enjoy the variety which comes with this role and relish the opportunity to speak at seminars and write articles about the key employment law issues for businesses.
I have just been identified as a “leader in my field” for the 2018 edition of Chamber & Partners, a publication that ranks all solicitors and barristers in England and Wales.
Outside of work, I spend time with my two wonderful daughters, play golf (badly) and run the odd half marathon.
